What actually goes down at the Fashion Awards? A mix of culture, hype and proper big fits filling the Royal Albert Hall. This year had a few surprises: Colman Domingo hosting, Little Simz and Kano popping up, and some serious looks from the UK’s heavy hitters. Here’s what stood out – did Skepta steal the show?
First up, D Double E. Clean. Sharp. Confident. He pulled up in a deep olive Labrum trench that basically said: “I’ve been doing this for years.” No noise but just timeless London energy.
Next to him was Labrum founder Foday Dumbuya – the mind behind Arsenal’s hit away kit. He kept things bold with a flame-patterned two-piece that felt part art, part cultural stamp. He was also up for British Menswear Designer of the Year, so the moment made sense.
Little Simz bagged the Cultural Innovator Award, with Kano stepping up to hand over the honours – a link-up that felt like a headline in itself.
But let’s be real: few are bending genres, dropping heat, and starring in Netflix dramas quite like her - She's certainly not playing about.
We have to take a moment to shoutout Moe (@hellacreps) who hit up the red carpet in style with a Bottega padded bomber, a relaxed tailored trousers and open-collar shirt combo from Simone Rocha, topping it off with an Our Legacy x CP Company beanie - Never failing to bring his ‘fit pics to life.
Also, in the mix we have Peter Crouch - We got Crouchy with a moustache before GTA VI!? We rate it.
Moe summed up the evening: “It was so inspiring being around some of the most important people in fashion and seeing them being recognised for what they do. Oh, and the vibes were great, we can’t forget that.”
As for best dressed? Moe didn’t hesitate: “Everyone looked so good yesterday, but I NEED that Mains Ribena jacket that Skepta was wearing.” Honestly? We agree.
Then you’ve got Dave stepping in with pure class. Understated tailoring, nothing loud, just smooth. He accepted Grace Wales Bonner’s award on her behalf, reading her message with that calm Dave delivery: “I want to express my deep thanks to all those who have supported our journey.” Then he added his own line - “I’m thankful for this journey, and the realisation that hard work and dedication… pay off in real time.” A proper moment.
And now the one everyone’s been waiting to see. Skepta. Never turns up in something predictable, but this time he went somewhere else entirely.
He arrived in the Ribena piece from MAINS - first spotted on their London runway. A deep purple leather jacket with a full juice-pouch graphic across the back and even a straw taped on.
It shouldn’t work… but it did. A mix of British nostalgia, streetwear surrealism and pure Skepta confidence. Only he could make a drink carton look couture.
Would you wear it? That’s the real question.
