adidas Forum Low Home Alone 2

If you ever watched the Home Alone films as a child, then you will probably remember the laughs and joys you had while following Kevin McCallister on his solo adventures. The films were chock full of great characters that make for great memes and now thanks to adidas, even better shoes. Who thought we would live in a world where we would have Harry and Marv, the two Home Alone burglars, on interchangeable insoles, it really is the small things in life.

The people over at adidas thought they’d do one better with their second Forum Low based on the films, looking at the sequel for its inspiration. Referencing the film’s most scary but equally wholesome scene is this shoe based on the one and only Pigeon Lady. A character that’s not only misunderstood but arguably pioneered the sustainability movement, the Pigeon Lady is finally getting the recognition she deserves.

adidas has really outdone itself with storytelling on this pair, using the Forum’s signature features in its favour. Representing the pigeons of Central Park, the upper uses shades of grey on the suede panelling, leather stripes, and strap. The inside lining has the standard Forum padding, draped in a dark burgundy that nods to the scrappy duffle coat worn by the lady herself. Misplaced stitching can be spotted throughout the upper to replicate the patchwork nature of her outfit, a lovely subtle touch. Amongst the great storytelling features is the removable adidas patch on the strap, revealing one of Kevin’s most heartfelt lines, “As long as we have our turtle dove, we’ll be friends forever.” This is in reference to the small gift he gives the Pigeon Lady for Christmas and a moment that instilled strong morales into the millions of people who watched the film growing up . Co-branding can be found throughout the shoe, most notably on the tongue, dubrae and hangtag which reveals an illustrated reference to the Pigeon Lady’s face.
