ASICS x Commonwealth Gel-Lyte V Beige

The beauty and individuality of the ASICS x Commonwealth Gel-Lyte V Beige is the result of an fascinating homage. The collaborative duo look to the Philippines as their inspiration behind this upcoming rework. It’s not just the vibrant country which influences the design but one of the most mysterious Filipino ethnic groups.

The mountainous people known as the Kalinga have maintained the same way of life for hundreds of years. Avoiding contact with the rest of civilisation, they’ve managed to retain their cultures and customs which have been passed down through the generations.

US retailer Commonwealth utilises this achievement by immortalising some of the Kalinga’s unique body paint on the Gel Lyte V. It remains subtle at the tongue and lace surround while a beige crafted upper is showcased elsewhere. This model is otherwise known as the ‘Kultura’.

Those geometric shapes and stripes are complimented with an ultra premium use of materials. Namely nubuck leather, mesh for comfort and suede overlays.

The ASICS x Commonwealth Gel-Lyte V Beige is scheduled to release on Friday 14th April via the retailers listed.
