Andersson Bell x ASICS GEL-Sonoma Connie Kayodi

Anderson Bell reconnects with the people over at ASICS for its third capsule, looking to the weird and wonderful expanses of “Asics World” to deliver the shoe’s storytelling. The GEL-Sonoma seems to be the go-to silhouette for 2023 as an ever-growing list of collaborators lines up to decorate the techy canvas. This “Connie Kayodi” colourway from Andersson Bell is far from shy, throwing an assortment of vibrant tones onto the Gel-Sonoma’s to celebrate its complex construction.

The midsole hosts a clash between a bright orange and black, setting the tone for the upper above. The shade of bright rose covers a textured toe, offset by a dark green mesh underlay. A light blue is thrown into the mix, peeping through the caged heel support, reminding us of the shoe’s functional background. A combination of hot pink and neon green decorates the iconic ASICS logo on the side wall, similar to the rest of the branding which is eager to leap off of the surface of the shoe. A small tab is tucked away under the ankle collar, revealing the subtle presence of the collaboration.

The Andersson Bell capsule looks at the outdoors from its own unique perspective, bringing us three playful editions of ASICS’ Gel-Sonoma in the process and establishing a more vibrant side to the footwear industry.
