Earth tones and utilitarian-inspired elements highlight the latest NB 2002R collaboration between JJJJound and New Balance. Starting as one of the most renowned mood boards before becoming a full-blown brand, the Montreal-based design studio formed by Justin R. Saunders has been one of the constant partners of the Boston sportswear powerhouse, having dropped several adaptations of iconic models in the catalogue. This JJJJound x New Balance 2002 “Green” headlines the latest retro runner collection, kitted in updated materials for an adventure-ready style.
This retro runner boasts an olive green shade on the ripstop nylon upper, overlaid by buttery smooth suede panels. Forgoing the waterproof properties of GORE-TEX, this edition incorporates muted grey leather materials to bolster the forefoot area and trademark “N” logos on the sidewalls. Branding includes “New Balance” on the tongue and “2002R” on the lateral rear, whilst the minimalist JJJJound label adorns the light green heel. Cushioned sockliners sit atop the blacked-out ACTEVA LITE midsole for supportive comfort, shored up by ABZORB SBS pods in the rear. A Stability Web shank plate rests on the midfoot for arch support, complementing the durable N-ergy rubber outsole.
