Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 Toddler Red

New Balance’s “International Friendship Through Basketball” New Balance 550 collection released in 2020 is historic in two ways. First, the collection was the brand’s initial foray into collabs. In this case, it was with New York fashion label, Aimé Leon Dore. Second, it was bringing back an archival shoe from the ‘80s that they had to reconstruct from scratch. The rest is history. They’re just so popular, the brand now has this legendary collection in toddler sizes. Get ready for the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 Toddler “Red”.

This NB 550 is a near-exact replica of the OG red colourway. The upper is premium smooth leather in white. The mid-panels are perforated just like on the adult model. The only difference is the hook-and-loop closure instead of a lacing system that’s easy to put on and pull off from toddler feet. The iconic pillow-like red “N” logos are on the panel flaps and are outlined in black. Co-branding in red can be found on the heel spines. A yellowed-out midsole and a black and red rubber outsole round out the style of this shoe.
