New Balance 550 Black Gum

New Balance's archived 550 basketball shoes from 1989 were re-introduced to the modern-day sneaker community through a collaboration with Teddy Santis' fashion label Aimé Leon Dore in 2020. The hype surrounding the model cultivated many more partnerships and premium in-line releases like the New Balance 550 Black Gum.

Unlike most NB 550 renditions with an all-leather upper, the 550 Gum features supple suede overlays around the toes and heels. Panels are predominantly in black accompanied by minimal shades of grey via the tongue branding, "550" branding, and across the collars. Underfoot, a brown gum rubber outsole attached to an EVA-cushioned midsole unit completes the pair.
