Following the success of the New Balance 2002R and recently the NB 1906R, the Boston-based sportswear brand revives another classic from the early 2010s. General-release colourways appear after the previous collaboration with New York City-based fashion label Aimé Leon Dore. This New Balance 860v2 “Mars” emerges in a greyscale colourway that New Balance perfectly executes.
If you feel like the New Balance 860v2 looks familiar, that’s because the shoe flaunts the ACTEVA Lite and ABZORB SBS midsole tooling borrowed by the NB 2002R and NB 1906R. This all-around running shoe came out in 2011 and disappeared for quite some time before returning in 2019. After collaborating with brands like Dime, Aimé Leon Dore, and thisisneverthat, the 860v2 is back in full swing for the modern-day sneakerheads. This colourway features a grey mesh base with synthetic leather overlays. Light brown accents adorn the breathable mesh layer on the quarter panel to achieve the Mars-inspired makeover. Signature “N” labels make up the sides with classic New Balance branding on the tongue. The neutral-based midsole and outsole complete this tonal colourway.
