Nike’s Yardrunners campaign enters its latest chapter with the release of this Air Force 1 Low “Virginia Union Black”. Launched in 2020, the program celebrates the brand’s partner HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) through profound storytelling that resonates with the institutions’ history and tradition. Conceptualised by Virginia Union University alumnus Dex Robinson, this AF1 Low presents a sophisticated style representing resilience, power, and legacy.

This limited-edition colourway flaunts a blacked-out hair-on leather upper as an ode to the school’s panther mascot. A glossy silver outline highlights the Swoosh on the sidewalls, complementing the “1865” lace dubraes as a nod to VUU’s foundation year. Red speckles on the laces mimic the university’s signature colours for additional flair. The left heel tab displays a “Dear Union” text, whilst “With Love, Dex Rob” appears on the right. Dex Robinson’s heartfelt message atop the VUU sign animates the graphic sockliners as a sign of gratitude. Interchangeable pins include a mini Swoosh, a panther emblem, the VUU logo, a DIALLO feather icon, and a silver “DEXROB”. This stealthy AF1 arrives in a special-edition Yardrunners box with extra red and black laces.
