Nike Air Max 1 Wild Animal Multi

The Air Max 1 saw its 35th Anniversary in 2022, with Nike releasing a whole host of great Special Editions that only improved the silhouette’s case for the throne. Alongside the Air Max 1 “Safari Beige” set up for a 2023 release is this “Wild Animal” edition which is equally as inspired by the animal kingdom. Switching things up on the Air Max 1 is a concept sneakerheads are always open to, just take a look at the Patta x Air Max 1s and their reception for example.

The cow print on the mudguard panel is sure to have sneakerheads divided, but we over at The Sole Supplier are definitely here for it. A tiger-striped Swoosh only adds to the animal-based presence on the shoe and can be seen again clawing onto the insole. This kitsch vibe is quickly balanced out by the red paisley print on the heel and the white floral pattern of the toe box. The plush velvet laces and leather lining also feed into the shoe’s classy element, causing an interesting clash between the bolder animal prints. The conflict is somewhat toned-down by the light blue accents on the upper eyestays and outsole below, acting as a neutral space for the eye to relax while filling in the gaps between the tasteful and garish features.
