Here we take a closer look at the Nike Zoom Alphafly NEXT% Eliud Kipchoge and its iconic status. Designed in collaboration with one of the world’s fastest distance-runners, this icon is sure to turn heads and add flair to any sneaker collection. This Nike Running shoe pays homage to the man himself and his speedy sport with this special edition trainer.
Being that this is a shoe for speed, the upper is crafted with lightweight Atomknit, a contemporary version of the Nike Flyknit technology, but updated for its breathability and streamlined effect. This Atomknit body arrives in a pure white to contrast with the thick black Swoosh on the toe. Red and green accents prevail throughout, including the insole where typography reads “EK” on the left foot and “1:59:40” on the right.
Since Eliud Kipchoge created a moment in history for his sport, the heel panels are dressed in none other than his triumphant sub-two-hour marathon time and his initials. The shapely heel section is dressed in red and green representing that of Kipchoge’s Kenyan nationality. The cream-hued midsole brightens up this sneaker to contrast with the main event; a carbon fibre Flyplate and Air Zoom unit. While also a signature design element, the unit provides this shoe with the bounce and speed it needs to withhold its collaboration title.
