The Nike Blazer came a long way from being Nike’s marquee basketball sneaker to becoming one of the most popular skate shoes in the market. This Nike SB Zoom Blazer Mid Premium “Grey Red Gum” boasts mixed upper materials with overlapping layers to achieve a patchwork-like structure.
The Nike Blazer model debuted in 1973 as a basketball shoe named after the Portland Trail Blazers. However, it was the San Antonio Spurs superstar George “The Iceman” Gervin who popularised the shoe. Nike launched the SB Blazer silhouette in 2005 with the help of pro skater Lance Mountain. This rendition flaunts various upper materials ranging from suede, ripstop mesh, jersey mesh, and leather. The shoe has a greyscale base with bright red accents on the oversized Swoosh on the sides, a large embroidered Nike SB label on the tongue, and vintage Nike branding on the heel. Exposed foam on the tongue achieves the meticulously deconstructed aesthetics of this shoe. The Zoom Air unit in the heel sockliner provides maximum cushioning during impacts, while the gum rubber cupsole delivers reliable traction and added durability.
