Every once in a while, a collaboration comes along that completely disrupts the industry. Whether it's adidas Yeezy from 2015 or the Dior x Air Jordan 1 High from 2020, these are just some of the milestones that show how far the sneaker game has come since its humble beginnings. With that said, this year we're getting a collab of similar magnitude with the Travis Scott x fragment design x Air Jordan 1, and thanks to these sleek new shots from sneaker insider @s.sam.group, we're have a side-by-side comparison between it and the OG "Mocha"!
While both Air Jordan 1s are very similar in style, the material construction and overall colourblocking is completely different. For instance, both pairs work on top of a premium white leather bases, however, La Flame's "Mocha" from 2019 is overlaid by brown suede throughout. The Hiroshi Fujiwara collab, on the other hand, is crafted completely from grain leather.
The colour palette is dissimilar too. The fragment design shoe is very obviously inspired by the fragment design x Air Jordan 1 from 2014, but with inverted blocking that leaves the ankle, heel, and toebox blue while the rest of the canvas is kept white. It also has a little line of code along the midsole which references FD's signature technical aesthetic.
Now on to some of the similarities. Both pairs feature co-branded tags on the tongue while debossed logos make their way to the back. You'll also find the same vintage hued Nike Air midsole underfoot and the backwards Swoosh which shoots across the lateral side panel, rounding off the iconic designs.
An official release date has yet to be announce for the Travis Scott x fragment design x Nike Air Jordan 1 High, so make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for more news as it develops! Let us know which pair you prefer, and while you're here, you might as well take a closer look at 2021's fragment design x Nike Dunk High "Beijing"!
