It seems that very few sneakers are safe from fakes these days, but certain pairs are also susceptible to the dupe treatment, too. Earlier this week, notorious fast fashion retailer SHEIN went viral for its latest footwear line-up, as certain products strongly resembled a number of Jordan styles.
Though the products have since been removed from the site (there’s no word on whether the brand’s Yeezy dupes will meet the same fate) that didn’t stop sneakerheads from taking to the internet to poke fun at the models. However, the pairs weren’t even particularly bad copies - the main difference just happened to be the absence of the Jordan branding. And, while we would never advise buying dupes or replica sneakers, we can understand why a price point of between £20-£40 could have seemed almost tempting, for a split second at least.
As expected though, many fans and shoppers weren’t impressed by the bargain pairs, and complained to the website for infringing on Jordan’s IP. Finally, a spokesperson responded to TMZ regarding the products, stating, “SHEIN takes all claims of infringement seriously and we have removed the product in question. Third-party sellers are required to comply with our SHEIN Marketplace policies and certify their products do not infringe IP.”
