Running shoes are taking over our feeds this year and with an ever-growing selection to choose from it’s now harder than ever to find the pair that’s right for you. Enter ‘Run, Don’t Walk’, our performance review series where we put the latest and greatest running shoes to the test and see how they hold up.
This week, we’re spotlighting a long-distance workhorse with race-ready tech, the adidas Adizero Boston 13. Putting this shoe through 30km of runs and training, here’s everything you should know about the adidas Boston 13.
via The Sole Supplier
The Adizero Boston 13 steps into adidas’ roster as the bridge between plush daily trainers and race-day runners. While the likes of the Adios Pro 4 and SL offer plus cushioning, the Boston 13 provides a firmer, more stable ride. An ideal choice for runners who value control and efficiency over softness.
Offering 13.8% more Lightstrike Pro foam than its predecessor the Boston 12, the Boston 13 also packs Energy Rods 2.0 underfoot. Packed full of technology, the model actually shares the same propulsion system as the Adios Pro 4 for £80 less, making it a standout for runners who want carbon-inspired performance in a durable package.
How Does The adidas Boston 13 Fit?
Fit-wise, the adidas Boston 13 fits true-to-size, with a performance-oriented shape which we found best for neutral runners. It’s not built for heavy heel strikers but if you’re a midfoot or forefoot striker then you will definitely benefit from the shoe’s snappy toe-off and lightweight structure.
Who Is The adidas Adizero Boston 13 For?
If you’re currently training for a race but not looking to drop £200+ on the Adios Pro 4, the Boston 13 is a smart compromise. You get great value for money, with much of the same tech packed into this shoe, while also benefitting from added durability.
We found the Boston 13 shines through in interval sessions and tempo runs, where the responsiveness and stability really shone through.

Final Verdict
After 30km of varied running and training, the adidas Boston 13 earns a solid 7.5/10 in our books. While it may not have brought the top-level performance of the Adios Pro 4 or Nike Alphafly 3, it comes in at a much more affordable price and offers greater versatility.
If you're looking to train hard and race smart, the adidas Boston 13 is a must-try.
