The Nike Vomero 18 has swiftly emerged as a standout in Nike's performance running lineup, earning its place not just through buzz, but through real-world performance. As part of The Sole Supplier's "Run, Don’t Walk" series, we wear tested this new silhouette and put it through its paces, clocking in 150km of running.
So, what’s the verdict? Does this affordable Nike running shoe live up to the hype?

The anticipation around the Vomero 18 was palpable at Nike RunTown during the pre-London Marathon showcase, where queues snaked around the block. Retailing at £135, the shoe delivers premium features at a price point that undercuts some of its biggest rivals. We’ve seen an 80% increase in demand here at The Sole Supplier in May alone, it's clear the running community has taken notice.
The Vomero 18 is constructed for mileage. It features a dual-foam midsole composed of Nike's high-performance ZoomX and the more stable ReactX. This combination offers a smooth, cushioned ride ideal for long-distance runs, daily training, and even recovery sessions. The midsole stack reaches 46mm, giving it the feel of a max-cushion trainer that still maintains a responsive toe-off thanks to its rocker geometry.
We’ve found the Vomero 18 to fit true-to-size. Unlike some other Nike running models, the fit of this new release isn’t too narrow, however it still isn’t the most accommodating for those with a wide foot. We may see a wide version released in the future, but for now the Vomero 18 only comes in one fit style.
One thing to note: this isn’t your race-day weapon. At a heavier weight, it’s built for cruising rather than sprinting. Those in search of speed might be better served by the Nike Pegasus Plus.
Even after 150km, the Vomero 18 showed minor signs of wear, signaling impressive longevity. The outsole features tacky rubber and flex grooves, enhancing grip and allowing for some flex despite the substantial stack height. Compared to its premium rivals, the Vomero 18 is competitively priced, undercutting alternative from HOKA or On and offering incredible value for money.
Our final verdict on the Nike Vomero 18 is a solid 8.5/10. It shines in comfort and versatility, making it an excellent choice for runners who prioritize cushioning and durability over speed and who are looking for a shoe that can soak up miles with ease.
With the Vomero Premium and Vomero Plus on the horizon, Nike seems poised to continue their momentum and release even more high-quality running shoes.
