If you still think the "global" sneaker scene starts in Beaverton and ends in Shoreditch, you’ve missed the flight. While everyone scrambled for the same three retro runners this year, the real heat moved south. Specifically, to Lagos.

Grace Ladoja’s HOMECOMING festival is a cultural takeover. For 2026, Nike is doubling down on this energy with a twin pack of Air Max Plus (the legendary Tn) that feels less like a corporate "nod" to Africa and more like a high speed collision with it.
Nike isn't playing it safe here. The first pair in the pack swaps the usual suburban aesthetic for a heavy Pan African palette. We’re talking a deep black base slashed with University Red and Court Green. It’s aggressive, it’s rhythmic, and it looks like something you’d wear to a rave that doesn't start until 3:00 AM.
The second pair? That’s for the hedonists. A "Safety Orange" gradient bleeds into Bright Mandarin, mimicking a Nigerian sunset; or perhaps just the high voltage electricity of a Lagos street corner.
Usually, "special editions" just mean a new lick of paint. Not this time. Nike reworked the anatomy of the Tn:
Nike spent the last few years building this bridge. Remember the Air Afrique collab? That project treated aviation heritage like high art. Or Free The Youth taking over Paris Fashion Week? Seeing Ghanaian street style dictate terms in France proved the power shift is permanent.
Even the Nike Football division got the memo. The T90 tournament and those recent AFCON campaigns; specifically the high octane video spots; showed a brand finally catching up to the speed of African youth culture.
For years, "Homecoming" implied the diaspora looking back at Africa from London or New York. Now? The narrative has flipped. The Air Max Plus is the perfect canvas for this. It’s a shoe born for the concrete, but in these colours, it belongs to the world. If you sleep on the Safety Orange pair, don't complain when the resale prices hit four figures by May.
Expect the HOMECOMING x Nike Air Max Plus collection to land during the festival in Lagos, running 2nd April to 6th April, 2026. For your best chance at snagging these for retail, all you have to do is visit the product page and hit the ‘Notify me’ button.
