Nike Denies All Involvement With the MSCHF x Lil Nas X Air Max 97
In what just might be the craziest turn of events this year, Nike has had to publicly deny all involvements with a project conjured up by Lil Nas X and streetwear label MSCHF. The duo took to social media over the weekend to announce the release of a limited-run of Air Max 97 sneakers dedicated to satan, with each pair containing a drop of real human blood. Yes, you read that right - real human blood.
The release is a follow-up to the “Holy Water” drop that also sent shockwaves through the industry last year. If you’re looking to cop a pair they’ll set you back a whopping $1018, with just 666 pairs available to purchase. Of course, there has been plenty of controversy regarding the release already, which is likely why Nike has quickly denied involvement.
When asked where the blood was sourced from, MSCHF founder Daniel Greenberg stated that several employees of the company “donated” samples to be used in the sneakers. The pairs are otherwise blacked out with a white Swoosh on each side and pentagram details across the laces. A blood-red Air unit finishes the look while the heel counters are individually numbered out of 666.
If you’re looking to cop the MSCHF x Lil Nas X Air Max 97 then it’s not going to be easy, we’ll be surprised if the release even goes ahead at this stage.
