The Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "Dear Summer" is a sneaker collection designed by Virgil Abloh and Nike in 2021. The offering saw 50 unique pairs of Nike Dunk Lows allocated with numbers Lot 01 to Lot 50 and released via SNKRS Exclusive Access that ran over a week long. If you were lucky enough to secure a pair, then we have no doubts you're already rocking them or most possibly requested to trade them for another lot number.
Unlike the Off-White x Nike Dunk Low White "Lot 01" and the Off-White x Nike Dunk Low Black "Lot 50", the remaining lot numbers featured a neutral grey colour scheme strikingly similar to each other—meaning that the model was a perfect blank canvas for creatives to give it a makeover.
So what we have here is some of the best customised Off-White x Nike Dunk Low, with a few notable pairs that were reshared by Mr Abloh himself via the official Off-White Instagram account. Without further ado, let's take a closer look at our favourite Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "Dear Summer" customs.
First up is a pair made by Seattle-based Filipino creative artist @antkai. As mentioned by Kai directly on IG, this was the "Lot 15" originally, one of the suede versions. The artist has blacked out the entire shoe, even coating the pink tongues and mini rubber heel slabs. Silver cable link chains take the place of the purple overlaces, and an Off-White lace dubrae positioned forefoot is for a bold branding feature.
Another custom from Ant Kai is the Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "Nothing Was The Dunks"—a colourway name given by one of his followers. Originally the fifth pair out of the fifty, the artist has left the blue overlaces untouched on "Lot 05" and paints a sky-like graphic across the leather overlays, with white representing clouds. The pink rubberised plaque has also kept the same colour.
Next up is a custom made by sneakerhead and photographer Ryan Anderson, aka @iwearsnkrs. Sporting an all-orange makeup, the suede-crafted "Lot 35" mimics tangerines as portrayed in a photo uploaded by the California-based artist.
Anderson's next Off White x Nike Dunk custom follows suit, a tonal pink Off-White x Nike Dunk Low custom. From heel to toe, all suede panels sport a pink tinge giving off a Cherry Blossom vibe. The flower motif on the lateral heel also emphasises the pink colour scheme. A closer look at this makeover shows that these were originally the "Lot 15".
Undeniably one of the sickest customs we've seen is from Andrew Chiou, a visual artist renowned in the community for his creative service brand, titled Roommates(s), offering aged-sneaker customs for that vintage vibe that is trending currently. His take on the "Lot 20" sees a green palette with rusty brown and black tones pulling inspiration from zombies. @andu.c dubbed this custom the Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "Zombie".
The Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "Day 'n' Nite" is named by Italy-based sneaker customiser @eaizy_. The Italian artist used "Lot 26" as a canvas for Kid Cudi-inspired gradients to adorn the quarter panels and toe boxes, colours taken directly from Cudi's "Man On The Moon" album covers, to be specific.
Another set of tie-dyed Off-White x Nike Dunk Low is from Brussel-based tie-dye specialist @owaishsb. The Belgian artist has a strong presence in the streetwear community, thanks to his self-managed clothing brands Sockaine and O.S. Denim. Owaishsb's Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "Tie Dye" are all bespoke, available for purchase directly from his Big Cartel store.
The next series of Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "Dear Summer" customs you're about to see are inarguably grail worthy as they pay homage to a few of the best releases in the history of footwear. This purple Nike Dunk Low Off-White was designed by @theinfamousjc for his label the filthy project. The suede and leather upper sees a bold purple hue and reminds us of the coveted Concepts x Nike SB Dunk Low Pro "Purple Lobster" from 2018.
As can be seen from the image above, this bespoke pair by Greece-based artist @mask72_works is inspired by the iconic Air Jordan 4 "Military Blue" from 1989. The "Lot 26" has been remodelled to look like it's from the past by introducing brown accents to represent rusts and a yellow-ish midsole unit for a vintage vibe.
The "Lot 21" turned "Tiffany" is definitely a must-have for us, and it should be for you too. Why? Designed by Tokyo-based artist @yohei_ohno, this Off-White x Nike Dunk Low custom pays homage to one of the rarest and most sought-after Nike SB Dunks, the legendary Diamond Supply Co. x Dunk Low Pro SB "Tiffany" from 2005. It sees predominant aqua/mint green accents all over, and these customs portray that perfectly.
We have no doubts that sneakerheads today would instantly recognise the inspiration for this Off White x Nike Dunk Low. Revamped by famous shoe customiser @chefhuyle is the Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "MCA", an obvious nod to Virgil Abloh's Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 "MCA" made in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. The colour blocking sees black and "University Blue" paired with metallic silver Swooshes.
Last but not least is John Trottier's Off-White x Nike Dunk Low "University Gold". The US-based artist dresses the "Lot 15" with a vibrant yellow coating and metallic silver Swoosh logos, influenced by the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 "University Gold" that received a surprise SNKRS drop, exclusive to those in the Boston area.
We have no doubts that there are more customised Off-White x Nike Dunk Low out there that deserves a shoutout. So be sure to tag us in your photos @thesolesupplier and keep it locked in right here to stay in the know of all the latest Off-White x Nike releases.
