New Balance’s 530 silhouette may have originated as a running shoe, but there’s no doubt that it's one of the most unstoppable styles in the lifestyle market today. Originally designed in 1992, the chunky-looking sneaker is everything you’d want from a Y2K-style icon: a mesh base, metallic detailing and an overall dad-shoe kinda vibe, so it's really no surprise that the model has taken over on TikTok.
Available in enough colourways to suit every kind of aesthetic going, there’s definitely a New Balance 530 to suit everyone. Here, we’ve rounded up some of our faves…
First up, this ‘Sea Salt’-style colourway is the perfect way to get away with sneakers in a slightly smarter setting. Subtler than some, these white and grey tones provide a more minimalist take on the retro silhouette, and make for a pair that’ll look great with tailored trousers. This pair also features a finer mesh than usual - less ‘runner’ and more ‘I run things here.’’
Next, we’re always here for a super sporty take on a shoe, so trust us when we say we’ll be wearing these on gym days and rest days alike. Boasting silver metallic details and branding hits, this colourway screams sports luxe, and would look great styled with an athleisure fit (our go-to will always be ADANOLA).
Finally, this GS-sized pair goes up to a UK6, and we just can’t get enough of the pink and purple details. Coming in at under £70, these are a must-have for anyone looking to add a pop of colour to their wardrobe. Style with a baby tee and some wide-leg light wash jeans to keep the Y2K look alive in 2023.
Which pair will you be picking up? Let us know, and don't forget to check out the rest of the range over at New Balance.
