It's crazy to think that the first time we heard of the Off-White x Nike Air Rubber Dunk was all the way back in September last year. Since then, we've seen a ton of leaks and teasers of the shoe collection, with Virgil Abloh even confirming them back in May via an Instagram Story. If these are on your "Must Cop" list then you're in luck, as they're dropping so much sooner than we had previously expected!
Arriving in three hotly anticipated colourways including "Black", "University Gold", and of course "University Blue", the Air Rubber Dunk is supposedly the Off-White founder's first all-original Nike sneaker. Crafted from a range of premium materials including mesh and suede, the upper is very obviously inspired by the P-6000. From the unique panelling along the sides to the lacing system, these have all been taken from the chunky dad shoe.
With that said, Abloh has injected it with his signature deconstructed touch. Instead of a conventional stitched on Swoosh, he's added a rubber version to the side panels for added depth. You'll also find technical verbiage on the medials too just like his other Off-White x Nike collaborations.
As you move down below, you'll find a midsole that's borrowed from the Dunk line-up. This has been infused with Air tech for comfort and cushioning that knows no bounds. It's worth noting that the "University Blue" is the only colourway that features a full gum unit that's pretty unique to say the least.
Now for that all-important release date. The Off-White x Nike Air Rubber Dunk is set to drop on October 1st in all three colourways. Let us know which pair you're feeling the most, and while you're here, you might as well take your first look at the Off-White x Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% "Black"!
