We certainly remember Junghoon (Vandy) Son’s “Strawberry” ASICS edition, having gone viral on The Sole Women’s account. It was obvious the demand for the Vandy x ASICS was there, but sadly the pair was restricted to Japan. So unless you were willing to fork out the big bucks or had a Nihonjin sneaker plug, your feet were looking fairly Vandy-less.
Needless to say, the South Korean-born designer has been busy building his culinary-themed world of footwear over the past decade, working with the likes of Clarks, Salomon and PUMA. His current library of scrumptious footwear is causing sneakerheads to start building up an appetite for his upcoming work, and rightly so.
This latest GEL-Kayano 12.1 merges the previous “Strawberry” and “Banana Split” colourways into one, embracing the pink and silver accents across the front toe, as well as the light yellow across the sidewall and rear. This Kayano 12.1 comes laced with a fluffy pair of butterscotch laces, but if that isn’t your jam (pardon the pun), then you get three other lace options to play around with.
