Without a shadow of a doubt, Supreme is one of the most well-known brands ever made. First established all the way back in 1994 as a skate-centric imprint, it slowly but surely climbed its way up the streetwear ladder, partnering up with many brands along the way including Nike and Louis Vuitton. Now, as if out of nowhere, it's been acquired by VF Corporation for a cool $2.1 billion.
The parent group for a ton of other brands including, but not limited to, The North Face, Dickies, Vans, and Timberland, the deal was first announced via WWD and is expected to expected to close before the end of VF Corp's 2020 fiscal year. Supreme's current investors are expected to sell their stakes in the company.
"We are proud to join VF, a world-class company that is home to great brands we've worked with for years, including The North Face, Vans, and Timberland." explained Supreme founder James Jebbia. "This partnership will maintain our unique culture and independence, while allowing us to grow on the same path we’ve been on since 1994."
We're not entirely sure what's in-store for Supreme, so make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for more news as it develops! Let us know what you think of this, and while you're here, you might as well take your best look yet at the Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low "Stars" Collection!
