Recent years saw the rise of particular footwear brands in the fashion industry, notably Salomon. The French sports equipment manufacturing label founded by Georges Salomon gained incredible traction during the pandemic when people had no choice but to stay cooped up at home or explore the outdoors — the answer was the latter. Sneakerheads and social media influencers opted for models more suitable for the trail and not flexing on the gram, naturally leading their attention to Salomon, which has been offering plenty of footwear silhouettes with functionality and technicality in mind since its inception in 1974.
Coinciding with what appeared to be never-ending sneaker collaborations over the last two years, Salomon saw its opportunity and dabbled into a few collaborative projects with the likes of Palace, BEAMS, and even COMME des GARÇONS, using its top-selling models. At the helm? It was the XT-6 model. Debuted in 2013 and gained momentum after winning GQ's Best Sneaker of the Year award, the mountaineering model eventually rose to the top of the must-have list of sneakerheads. The assortment of seasonal-friendly colourways, like the fall-ready "Vanilla Ice", made rounds across various mood boards on the gram and pushed the S/LAB XT-6 to the forefront of the sneaker community.
You could also say that the oversaturation of Nike's Dunk colourways and adidas' Yeezy trainers urged people to try new styles. Salomon's decision to introduce its ACS model inspired by the GCS model from the 2000s resulted in more eyes on the brand. Featuring the new Agile Chassis System, the Salomon ACS Pro Advanced arrived in clean tonal colourways, which meant they were easier to style than multi-coloured shoes.
Today, Salomon's XT-4 and XT-6 models are seeing quicker sell-out times — not only because of keen wearers but also those looking to make some profit on the secondary market. Naturally, this means that other models from the brand have also begun to inch towards the frontlines of fashion and footwear retailers, including the XA Pro.
To conclude, Salomon is currently experiencing global attention and there's no saying when the hype train will come to a stop. Collaborations and more in-line variants are definitely in the works and we recommend that you stay locked in here at The Sole Supplier if you don't want to miss out on Salomon's latest drops.
