adidas Campus 80s Croptober Brown Green

The 3-Stripes levels up the unboxing experience with this Croptober Campus 80s edition. It’s not the first time we’ve seen a sneaker arrive with removable elements, just take a look at Loewe’s grass-covered sneaker or the Cactus Plant Flea Market 1 that was engulfed by swathes of green hair. Unsurprisingly, adidas has already explored the concept before on its Taegeukdang x adidas Superstar “White” from 2022, now going a step further by covering the entire shoe in a tearable material for the cannabis themed celebrations on 4/20.

This Campus arrives covered in brown paper from heel to toe, which represent the wrapping paper that you'll see people rolling up on the celebratory day. Making the tear-away feature clear is the faint zig-zagged line that wraps around the bottom portion of the upper. Before you wear off the paper shell, the only other elements that remain visible are the yellow-tinted laces and psychedelic print on the panel edges and insole. Whether you’re going to let the paper naturally wear away or you're ripping it off first thing, that choice is entirely up to you and one that deserves its own debate. Whichever way it comes off, you will eventually unveil a nappy green suede that lies underneath, matching the lime laces which may at first seemed out of place. Darker hits of suede are reserved for key areas such as the tongue, 3-Stripes and heel, channelling the Campus 80s its traditional aesthetic.
