Delving deep into the adidas archives once more, legendary adidas Spezial founder and curator Gary Aspden unleashes his breadth of 3-Stripes knowledge on the adidas SPZL A/W ‘23 collection. The long-time adidas partner continues on from a solid Pre-Spring 2023 collection which involved Liam Gallagher’s second signature shoe, the LG2. The adidas Samba Deco SPZL “Core Black Lucid Lime” draws inspiration from an Austrian-manufactured adidas training shoe in the ‘70s, highlighting the silhouette’s vibrant ensemble of colours while maintaining the quintessential adidas Samba DNA.
Capitalising on the global interest surrounding the iconic adidas Samba, Gary Aspden reimagines the silhouette in two colourways, both of which incorporate altered panels and subtle brand detailing on the tongue. This iteration displays a blacked-out suede base, harkening back to one of the Samba’s OG styles as a football trainer. Aspden adopts a vibrant shade of lucid lime, a detail which was inspired by a pair of vintage football boots, engulfing the leather sawtooth 3-Stripes on the sides and heel tab. Meanwhile, the signature T-toe overlay gets a minimalist update, replaced by a deco stitch inspired by the adidas Baltic. It's also worth noting that this pair arrives with an extra set of matching green laces, as well as fitting true to size unlike some of the leather general release versions.
Gold foil wraps the Samba SPZL on the lateral panels, while the blue adidas Originals branding firmly sits on the ecotex tongue, which boasts debossed “The Brand with the 3-Stripes” labels written in English and German. Co-branded adidas and SPZL logos appear on the heel tab and sockliner. The low-profile gum rubber sole rounds out this contemporary update on the Samba Deco SPZL black.
The adidas Spezial Autumn/Winter ‘23 capsule drops on the 16th of November via the CONFIRMED app and select stockists of the Spezial series. Find out how to get your hands on the "Black" Samba Deco by keeping it locked to The Sole Supplier and downloading our App!
