Pharrell x adidas Humanrace Samba Lilac

After releasing two collaborative editions in December of 2022, Humanrace and adidas focuses in on the Samba once again. King of footwear photography, Arab Lincoln, recently took to his Instagram to unveil a pair of monotone Sambas, suggesting a future direction for the silhouette. Although it’s been over 8 years since the Superstar “Supercolour” Pack, could this be a hint from the 3-Stripes that the PANTONE colours will be making a return? With Yeezy and Ivy Park now out of the equation, the German-footwear brand could be looking to Pharrell’s Humanrace to carry some extra weight.

The Samba “Lilac” arrives dripping in smooth leather from head to toe. The beefed-up 3-Stripes on the side wall are held down by a matching stitch, with the zigzag pattern being a detail we saw on the previous “Night Grey” and “Beige Black” editions from ’22. The extended tongue is also back, with a large Trefoil logo debossed between the grid lines that channel the Samba Super DNA. Threaded onto the upper are a set of leather laces, a feature normally reserved for top tier editions, yet fit perfectly within the pair’s premium construction. Co-branding is kept minimal as the Humanrace wordmark is silently stamped onto the sidewall, moving away from the uniform gold foil lettering. These also arrive in a lilac-coloured premium edition box, where inside a duffle bag and two extra sets of laces round off the heightened unboxing experience.
