Copenhagen-based fashion designer Cecilie Bahnsen collaborates with Japanese sportswear giant ASICS for two more ASICS GT-2160 renditions. The retro running shoe from 2011 continues to make waves in the sneaker scene thanks to high-heat general-release styles and exclusive collaborations that include Dime, Cecilie Bahnsen, and KITH, to name a few. This Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS Mary Jane-inspired edition showcases the Danish designer’s playful take on the silhouette, centred around upcycled floral themes that can be seen throughout her works. The sleek retro running shoe has a greyscale mesh base accentuated with metallic silver ASICS Stripes and pastel blue synthetic mudguard. Meanwhile, two dark-hued midfoot straps replace the traditional lacing system to fulfil the Mary Jane look, ornamented with deep blue floral decorations that have these contending for the cutest shoe of 2023 award (not that it's an official award or anything). More blue hues engulf the rear, lining, and co-branded sockliners which breath life into the techy runner-inspired palette. The foam midsole and proprietary GEL inserts on the heel arrive in a midnight navy shade to juxtapose the light-based upper.

A semi-translucent midfoot shank splits up the darker tread underfoot, tapping into a long lineage of iconic sneakers that have boasted such an aesthetic. This contemporary spin of the ASICS GT-2160 by Cecilie Bahnsen represents an ongoing shift in sneaker culture, where trail-based and early 2000s mesh runners are successfully transformed with a few feminine touches.
