New Balance 1906N Lunar New Year Cream

New Balance nails the Lunar New Year celebrations with this tasteful rendition of the 1906N. Stepping away from the usual bold and bright colours we often see brands use in recognition of the Chinese Lunar New Year, the Boston-based footwear brand has opted for a more subtle approach with its commemorative pack in 2024. This NB 1906N “Cream” pair, along with the “Shell Pink” edition are hard to choose between, so it could be down to a coin toss for us here at The Sole Supplier. Which colour are you picking? Unsure of where to look first, the upper’s seemingly simple palette throws you off to begin with. With a cream cross-linked mesh as the underlay, subtle pale lime green accents on the overlays and morel brown hits on the outsole beautifully fit the minimal theme. From far you could confuse these for a simple general release or all-beige number, but when you get these in hand, the details can’t help but shine through. Of course, the classic New Balance grey has been added in for good measure, with no chance of the silhouette escaping its heritage set of hues. Head onto the inside of the foot and the use of pale green becomes more obvious, highlighting the asymmetrical panel design that makes this 2000s runner so great. The rumours are indeed true, as the 1906N provides solid cushioning underfoot, just thank the lime green ABZORB heel unit for all that future comfort it’ll provide you.
