Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 OG SP Black Racer Blue

New York-based streetwear brand Awake NY reunites with Jordan Brand for an exclusive footwear and apparel collection starring the AJ5. The limited collaboration coincides with the 35th anniversary of the legendary basketball shoe designed by Tinker Hatfield, whose creativity and revolutionary concepts aligned with MJ’s aggressive play style. Showcased by founder and Queens native Angelo Baque, the Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 OG SP “Black Racer Blue” presents a revamped makeover inspired by the New York fashion scene.

This fresh AJ5 flaunts a blacked-out leather upper with a white contrast stitching to highlight the silhouette’s bulky frame. Awake’s signature “A” script forms the translucent plastic netting on the quarter, which shines atop the dark backdrop. The embroidered “23” and “NY” decorate the lateral rear sections, complementing the blue Nike Air branding on the back. The logo on the silver reflective tongue combines Awake NY and the Jumpman to celebrate the growing partnership. The translucent lace toggle provides an adjustable fit, while the padded collar and inner lining add comfort around the ankles. White speckles animate the blue shark teeth on the midsole for a pop of colour. An exposed Air unit appears on the heel for ample cushioning and shock absorption. To deliver traction, the outsole incorporates icy herringbone sections on the forefoot and rear.
