adidas has revealed the charitable organisations that will benefit from the proceeds of its upcoming Yeezy sales. Having made the decision to drop Yeezy products starting from the end of this month, the 3-Stripes has now revealed that a percentage of the proceeds will go to the Anti-Defamation League, and the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for social change - founded by George Floyd's brother.
Speaking on the announcement, ADL CEO Jonathan A.Greenblatt said: "At a time when antisemitism has reached historic levels in the U.S. and is rising globally, we appreciate how adidas turned a negative situation into a very positive outcome. They have shown real thoughtfulness in engaging with community organisations working to combat this pernicious and stubborn hatred."
adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden also revealed that the decision to sell and donate profits from the remaining products was "the preferred option among all organizations and stakeholders spoke to." He went on to say that the move was the "best solution" as it "respects the created designs and produced shoes, it works for people, resolves an inventory problem, and will have a positive impact in communities.
Though the decision to donate the profits is a wise move, its important to note that Ye will still receive 15% of sales due to his existing royalties deal.
According to adidas UK, the remaining Yeezy sneakers are expected to drop from the 31st of May. Peek a full look at the line-up here, and stay tuned for all the drop info as it comes in.
