Been sneaker shopping lately? Hope your wallet’s ready for a workout. Take Nike’s iconic Air Max 95, for example. Turning 30 this year, it debuted in 1995 at £110. Fast forward to today, and even the basic, no frills versions will set you back £185. We've talked about this serious inflation and how it might have had a serious impact on Nike's sales over the last couple of years.
Enter the Air Max Fire; a budget friendly addition to Nike’s lineup that draws inspiration from fan favourites like the Air Max Tailwind, Air Max 270, and the recently released Air Max Dn8. By blending the best features of these models, the Air Max Fire offers a stylish yet affordable alternative. It’s a win for your sneaker collection and your wallet.
The Air Max Fire debuts in three versatile colourways: the crisp ‘Triple White,’ subtle ‘Triple Black,’ and bold ‘Bred’ (a classic black and red combo). Designed with a ballistic mesh base and synthetic leather overlays, the sneaker creates a layered, modern aesthetic. A subtle Swoosh graces the toebox, while a larger, reversed Swoosh pays homage to the trend popularised by Travis Scott.
At the heart of this sneaker is Nike’s signature Air cushioning technology; typically reserved for premium models like the Air Max Plus or Air Max 97. The Air Max Fire brings that same plush comfort to a more accessible price point, delivering high performance without breaking the bank.
Nike’s foray into affordable sneakers isn’t new. Earlier this year, the brand introduced the V5 RNR, a budget spin on the Zoom Vomero 5.
So, what’s the price tag for the Air Max Fire? To put things into perspective, the Air Max Dn8 starts at £175. By contrast, the Air Max Fire will retail for just £80; a staggering £100 difference. Set to launch soon, it’ll be available via Nike, the SNKRS app, and select retailers worldwide.
