Salomon’s XT-6 needs no introduction. Having earned its reputation among the gnarliest of endurance athletes during the early-2010s, the silhouette became uniform for the Gorpcore fashion trend in 2020. Seen on both the trail and outdoor-inspired mood boards, the silhouette has a versatile track record. The XT-6 recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a limited ‘10Y’ edition that was kitted out in an all-red make-up, selling out in a matter of minutes.
Adding to the celebrations is the upcoming collaboration between Salomon and legendary Tokyo-based retailer atmos. Considering atmos’ deep connections within the world of streetwear, it was only a matter of time before creative director Koji was given free rein on the XT-6. Opting for a stealthy finish, the colour palette is formed from a mixture of black, silver and greys.
The Japanese brand’s signature star motif returns, with a repeat pattern printed onto the XT-6’s fused panelling. As with previous collaborative editions, the Quicklace System, Agile Chassis System and Mud Contragrip system has remained untouched, ensuring the XT-6’s functionality is still fully intact. atmos branding is minimal, found on the centre tongue, tucked away under the set of Kevlar laces. Continuing the star-based theme of the upper is the midsole, giving the shoe’s side profile the appearance of a twinkling night sky.
The atmos x Salomon XT-6 will be dropping at the brand’s pop-up event on April 3rd, followed by a later global in-store launch and online drop on April 8th. For more information on this release, make sure to keep it locked to The Sole Supplier!
