Launched in 2006 as a digital mood board, Montreal-based design studio JJJJound is headed up by Justin Saunders, and has since made a huge impact in the world of footwear. Through a number of limited-edition collaborations with various brands, the label has solidified itself as a pioneer of hype culture, offering up classic footwear silhouettes with an elevated twist that sets them apart from others on the market. Over the years JJJJound has teamed up with New Balance , Reebok , Vans and Dr. Martens to name just a few.
While the collaborations are often very subtle, they follow a distinguishable pattern by being incredibly wearable, which is likely why they’re so popular with tastemakers across the world. Here at The Sole Supplier we’re all huge fans of JJJJound, so we’ve taken a look back through the archives and compiled this definitive list of every footwear collaboration that the brand has worked on so far. Read on for all you need to know!
JJJJound x New Balance 990v3 "Grey" Marking the start of what would grow to be an impressive partnership was the JJJJound x New Balance 990v3 “Grey”. Already one of the most stylish and memorable sneakers of all time, the 990v3 doesn’t need all that much else added to it, and JJJJound clearly understood the assignment. By swapping out the regular New Balance grey for a slightly darker tone and adding it’s signature typeface logo to the heel, Justin Saunders and his label transformed this sneaker into a must-have for those in the know. This remains one of the most elusive collaborations to date, as it was only produced in highly limited quantities.
JJJJound x Vans Old Skool Pack Once again adding it’s effortlessly-cool flair to an already timeless silhouette, JJJJound first presented it’s take on the Vans Old Skool all the way back in 2017, before the brand rose to international stardom. Offering up three colourways (green, brown and white), the pack was modelled on vintage Vans from back in the day, with premium materials used throughout. Virtually no branding is present on this collaboration, with the exception of Vans’ signature Jazz Stripe running across each side and dual-logos printed onto the cork footbeds.
JJJJound x Reebok Club C 85 Pack The Reebok Club C 85 is perhaps one of the greatest everyday sneakers ever known to man, and it’s been the subject of countless collaborations over the years, including one with none other than JJJJound. By swapping out the Reebok logo that’s usually present on the lateral side for JJJJound branding, this pair instantly became one that sneakerheads and fashion fans alike began to lust for. While it was first released in white and grey in 2019, we then saw a second white/beige colourway launch in 2020. Terry cloth lining and colour matched outsoles completed the look on both pairs.
JJJJound x New Balance 992 Pack Arguably the collaboration that shot JJJJound into the limelight, the label’s second team effort with New Balance featured the already-hyped New Balance 992 . Two colourways launched (Forest Green and Grey), with high-end materials and dual-branding featured throughout. Once again, this team effort proved JJJJound’s continuous ability to propel already popular sneakers further into hype culture by making minimal adjustments to the design. This release was perhaps the pinnacle of the label’s distinguishable “less is more” attitude. Both colourways remain popular on the resale market and regularly sell for over double the original retail price.
JJJJound x Danner Suede Mountain Light Fresh off the back of the newfound hype after the JJJJound x New Balance 992, the brand continued to expand to new horizons, teaming up with Oregon-based hiking boot label Danner for the first time ever. Offering up a light-brown-hued version of the Mountain Light boot, each pair was carefully crafted from ultra-premium suede and came complete with silver-tone metal lace loops and a Vibram sole unit. If combining second-to-none build quality with clean-cut style is something that excites you then look no further than this impressive team effort.
JJJJound x Reebok Classic Nylon Joining forces with Reebok once again, JJJJound and the legendary Bolton-brand launched their take on the Classic in 2020. Following a similar concept to their previous efforts, the sneaker was decked out in a white and beige colourway, using suede, nylon and canvas across the uppers. JJJJound branding was featured in the place of Reebok’s logo once again, while the sneakers came complete in a dual-branded white and gold box. This release went largely under the radar and pairs remain difficult to come across on the secondary market.
JJJJound x Dr. Martens Archie II Pack While JJJJound had already established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the sneaker universe, it was yet to step into the formal footwear market, so what better way to do so than with a collaboration with Dr. Martens? Perhaps the greatest shoemaker of all time, the British label welcomed JJJJound’s understated aesthetic with open arms, with the two brands working together to create two colourways of the Archie II silhouette. Launching both black and brown leather, all pairs were quickly snapped up by fans of the brand, making these incredibly hard to come across these days.
JJJJound x Vans Vault Sk8-Mid Pack Mirroring 2017s collaboration, the second joint venture between Vans and JJJJound focused on the lesser-seen Sk8-Mid silhouette. Three colourways launched and each pair offered an elevated take on the classic look, with premium suede used throughout, accentuating the already strong Californian look. This time around, small logo tabs bearing JJJJound branding featured on the lateral sides, although they still retain the subtle look that many fans of the label live and die for.
JJJJound x Padmore & Barnes P204 The Padmore & Barnes P204 is already a footwear option reserved for those who can appreciate quality design and aesthetics, so it only made sense for JJJJound to work on the silhouette for it’s latest formal shoe collaboration. Perfect for being dressed up or down, the blacked-out leather kicks are crafted from the finest production materials and bear absolutely no branding on the outside. Leather laces and gold hot-stamped JJJJound logos on the insoles complete the look here, making these the ideal choice for a real gentleman.

JJJJound x New Balance 990v4 "Navy" The JJJJound x New Balance 990v4 “Navy” launched in late 2021, continuing the long-standing partnership between the two labels. Marking the first time that the duo set to work on the 990v4, this time around the usual colour palette was ditched in favour of a single navy-blue hue that adorned the entirety of the sneakers. Perhaps indicating a slight change of direction for the brand’s aesthetic, these were still an enormous hit with sneakerheads around the globe, with a re-release in early 2022 selling out almost instantly once again.
JJJJound x Danner GORE-TEX Pack While the duo had worked on an extremely-limited release in 2020, JJJJound’s most notable release in collaboration with Danner came in the form of the GORE-TEX capsule that launched at the tail end of 2021. Featuring takes on both the Feather Light and Mountain Light boots, both pairs are fully decked-out in water and weather resistant GORE-TEX fabrics, meaning that they’re capable of tackling pretty much any environment. The brown and dark-green colourways are accentuated with gold-tone metal details and understated branding, making these a strong choice for those that prefer boots to sneakers.
JJJJound x A Bathing Ape BAPESTA The BAPESTA by A Bathing Ape is a sneaker that has an undoubtedly strong following, as the pair itself is a homage to the classic Nike Air Force 1 that remains popular even after 40 years in production. While it came as a surprise to many, JJJJound’s choice to create a limited-edition version of the silhouette in question makes perfect sense. While the BAPESTA is usually offered in vivid colour palettes that stand out on the street, Justin Saunders and co. instead offered up a white and grey variant in typical low-key fashion, with sneaker fans absolutely lapping it up - the collaboration sold out instantly across the globe.
JJJJound x New Balance 990v3 "Olive" Returning to where it all started, JJJJound and New Balance first began to tease a brand-new colourway of the New Balance 990v3 back in November 2021, with images of a khaki-green hued pair beginning to float around the internet. Eventually released in March 2022, this release marked another huge success for both collaborating parties, with millions of people entering raffles or queueing up to cop. Cream and black details complement the rest of the design perfectly, once again displaying both brands’ attention to detail and quality when it comes to sneaker releases.
