Having already collaborated with Asics to bring us the futuristic Gel Kayano 25, David Obadia of Harmony Paris has teamed up with Puma to bring us something more vintage-inspired. The image above is the original moodboard Obadia made to brainstorm ideas for the release.
The RS-1 and Crack silhouettes by Puma have been revamped in a new project that's due to be released on the 9th of February. The nylon suede of the RS-1 and corduroy of The Crack are a nostalgic nod back to the 1970s, when cord bell bottoms and suede loafers reigned supreme.
The RS-1 comes in either an off-white with yellow Formstripe, or burgundy with off-white Formstripe. They both sit on an off-white midsole which features Puma's high quality cushioning 'Running System' technology for comfort with every step.,
For the Crack, a throwback retro corduroy decorates the upper in either burgundy or mustard yellow, with an off-white Formstripe running along the sidewalls and an off-white midsole.
Both pairs only incorporate a limited number of different colours, helping them to maintain tonal looks, and we're loving them. Reminiscent of Converse's Corduroy One Star Platforms in Yellow and Green from 2018, it feels like cord could be making a comeback on many other silhouettes in the future.
What do you think? Should corduroy be relegated to fancy dress 70s flares, or do you think the trend is about to blow up? The collaboration is set to release on the 9th of February and a wider release on the 12th. Keep it locked to The Sole Supplier for info on where you can cop a pair of the David Obadia x Puma Crack and RS-1 for yourself!
