The 3-Stripes delivers this futuristic take on its hugely successful NMD franchise with this S1 update. Building on the silhouette’s distinct features, adidas pays homage to the original DNA while embracing the design language of the now. While this new S1 Core version does take a large step away from the first release, there is a lot here for the NMD fan to enjoy.

Cloaked in a dark colourway, this NMD S1 Core gives the new bulkier silhouette all the attention it deserves. Semi-translucent ridges on the midsole echo the original TPU blocks that were so pivotal in creating a new lane for the franchise. The one-knit upper and fused 3-Stripes give the shoe its futuristic appearance, welcoming the sleek design that was key on the first NMD. Dual-tone rope laces are found above, introducing a bulky element to the upper that is so obvious on the shoe’s bottom section. The new chunky midsole adopts the maximalist approach of high-end footwear, doubling up on its BOOST cushioning in the process. The outsole underneath boasts an aggressive tread pattern in the form of layered trefoil logos, a notable step away from the minimal tread from 2016.
