Tom Sachs once told us the General Purpose Shoe (GPS) was designed to be dull. It was a tool, not a trophy. But who are we kidding! When the man behind the legendary Mars Yard line drops a "boring" sneaker, the entire community loses its collective mind anyway.
After a brief hiatus that had resale prices creeping up uncomfortably, Nike and Sachs are back to finish what they started. This time, however, the DIY king is trading his signature knit for something a bit more substantial.

The latest iteration of the NikeCraft GPS scraps the usual mesh and suede. Instead, we’re getting a full black leather build. It’s a smart pivot. While the original pairs felt like high tech gym shoes for NASA interns, this leather version feels like it might actually survive a rainy Tuesday in Manchester.
Sachs spent a decade developing the GPS because he wanted a shoe that ‘works as hard as you do.’ While his previous Mars Yard drops were harder to find than a polite thread on X, the GPS was built for high volume production.
By making these accessible, Nike stripped away the "untouchable" aura of high heat collaborations. It’s an interesting take in an industry obsessed with scarcity, and we think it works. You can actually wear these to the pub without hovering over your feet with a wet wipe every ten minutes.
If you missed out on the Mars Yard 3.0 raffle (which, let’s face it, was 99% of us), this is your consolation prize; and it might actually be better. At around £100, it’s one of the most affordable ways to get a designer’s vision on your feet without eating beans on toast for a month.
