New York-based fashion label Aimé Leon Dore revisits its debut New Balance 550 collection in 2020 by re-releasing all four colourways. But this time, only in kids’ exclusive sizes. The pack consists of preschool and toddler sizes, with the latter also featuring easy hook-and-loop straps. This Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 PS “Green” exudes autumn-ready sail white and dark green hues to display an old-school look.
Aimé Leon Dore founder and current New Balance Made in USA creative director Teddy Santis led the revival of the New Balance 550 in 2020. This silhouette emerged in 1989 as a basketball shoe to juxtapose its high-top counterpart, the NB 650. Decades later, the NB 550 was at the forefront of the brand’s vintage-inspired lifestyle silhouettes. This preschool edition is part of the first four colourways in the ALD x NB 550 collab in 2020, draped in a sail white leather base and rubber midsole. Dark green accents decorate the “N” logos with cracked leather textures, collar, heel counter, and outsole. Co-branded Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance labels appear on the tongue and heel, while the “550” branding emblazons the lateral forefoot. The green multidirectional rubber sole completes this vintage-inspired colour palette.
