Josué Thomas unveils the latest GALLERY DEPT. x ASICS collaboration to coincide with his “Mental Energy” exhibition in Art Basel Miami 2024. The partnership brings three iterations of the all-new GEL-K1011, a hybrid model combining design elements of the GEL-Kayano 5, 6, and 10, and named after one of Thomas’ old apartments. Merging Y2K style with modern innovation, the GALLERY DEPT. x ASICS GEL-K1011 “White” offers a bespoke look created by the Los Angeles-based clothing label’s in-house artisans.

This techy runner flaunts a blacked-out upper crafted in mesh and synthetic materials, representing the founder’s journey through sports and creative arts. A clean white paint covers most parts of the shoe except for the midsole, hiding most of the silhouette’s retro-inspired details aside from the signature Tiger Stripes on the sidewalls. A yellow GALLERY DEPT. tag embellishes the rear, complementing the co-branding on the sockliners. Subtle ASICS logos animate the tongue and heel panels. Borrowed from the GEL-Cumulus 17, the midsole incorporates stacked GEL inserts with FLYTEFOAM AND FLYTEFOAM PROPEL technologies for exceptional cushioning and shock absorption.
