Needles x ASICS GEL-NYC Black

Japanese powerhouse brands Needles and ASICS have linked up for their latest collaborative project featuring the GEL-NYC. This partnership is a follow-up to the two-part capsule starring the archival EX89 from 2023. The Needles x ASICS GEL-NYC “Black” is an ode to the fashion label’s signature track pants, merging vintage Americana styling infused with premium Japanese fabric artisanship.

This hybrid retro-inspired trainer flaunts a blacked-out textile base, surrounded by premium leather overlays donning purple threads. Needles’ iconic four embossed lines have been applied towards the purple semi-translucent Tiger Stripes on the sidewalls, complementing the two-tone round laces. Co-branding decorates the tongue, while the signature butterfly moniker appears embroidered on the heel panel. Taken from the GEL-CUMULUS 16, the foam midsole carries black GEL inserts on the forefoot and rear to optimise comfort and cushioning. Eye-catching purple hues envelop the decoupled rubber sole, completing the harmonious colour contrast.
