Founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949 as Onitsuka Tiger, Onitsuka soon changed its name to ASICS in 1977, an acronym for the Latin expression “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano” (“You should pray for a healthy mind in a healthy body”).

A long-time collaborator, KITH’s Ronnie Fieg has put his spin on a number of ASICS Silhouettes. Most notable of these is his work on the ASICS GEL-LYTE 3 to create the famous ‘Homage’, also known as the 'Salmon Toe' or 'What the Fieg'. This release celebrated Fieg's previous works with the brand by bringing elements of previous collaborations into one shoe.

In 2020 ASICS also worked with two of the biggest names in the industry to release an incredible corduroy take on a classic with the Sean Wotherspoon x Atmos x ASICS GEL-LYTE 3.
