ASICS Gel-Lyte 5 Spring in Japan Banana Cream

ASICS’ 30-year-old Shigeyuki Mitsui-designed Gel-Lyte 5 has a new “Spring in Japan” collection inspired by the flowers that bloom in Japan during the spring season. Introducing one of the iterations in the collection, the ASICS Gel-Lyte 5 Spring in Japan Banana Cream.

This Gel-Lyte 5 has a white perforated leather base. The pigskin nubuck overlays on the toe are Cream-coloured while the overlays on the eye stay panel and heel panel are a pale pink. The shiny ASICS Tiger Stripes on both the medial and lateral mid-panels, the tongue, the collar and the nubuck heel underlays are all in the titular Banana Cream. The right tongue features a pink embroidered “A” logo while the left tongue shows off a Kamon-style embroidered cherry blossom. ASICS branding on the white insoles, the TPU heel clip, and the wavy design on the midsole at the heel area are all in pink as well. A white midsole with GEL cushioning technology and a Banana Cream and Cream rubber outsole cap off the design of this shoe.
