A year after the Air Max 270 dropped in 2018, Nike took to updating its new Air Max silhouette with its equally-as-new React technology. First introduced through the Epic Flyknit React in February of 2018 and then later through a lifestyle version on React Element 88, the new foam from Nike was touted as being 11% softer while offering 13% more energy return than previous cushioning systems. As both the new technology and AM270 React grew within the running and sneakerhead communities, it would only be a matter of time before they would collide, creating the Air Max 270 React.

Not only was the React silhouette more comfortable, but the addition of the textured midsole would complement the overall aesthetic. The first set of colourways hit the shelves in July of 2019, with the “Multi” and “Bauhaus” editions arriving in a vibrant palette, as opposed to the third “Black” colourway kitted out in an understated make-up. Packing comfort into its sleek profile was a recipe for success, whether it was a beater, part of the rotation or even a go-to gym shoe, the Air Max 270 React could handle it all!
As a new year was underway, leaked images of a Travis Scott x Air Max 270 React ENG edition revealed a third update was yet to come. This would stir up hype for the ENG version, with Nike releasing three pairs of general release pairs on the 16th of January. Like the prior versions, the Swoosh served up the new editions in a combination of Air and React cushioning, however the upper was now constructed from engineered mesh and used TPVR welded lines that nodded to the iconic Tn Air Max Plus. The ENG iterations would go on to drop alongside more Air Max 270 React editions, both of which landed in a range of playful and wearable colourways.
From 2019 through to 2020, the Nike Air Max 270 React was a heavy mainstream contender, with Air Max heads also clocking in some serious wear. As trends in the industry move away from AM270 and its various iterations, there’s no denying the levels that the silhouette reached. While the Air Max 270 React retreats from the spotlight, we at The Sole Supplier will be ready for its big return!
